Community invited to spruce up campus on University Day

Join fellow community members in celebrating University Day, a long-standing University of Oregon tradition of giving back and beautifying campus in preparation for commencement.

UO students, staff, faculty members, alumni and community members are encouraged to dig in and have some fun Thursday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Check-in will be located under the Columbia Hall covered area on the corner of University Street and East 13th Avenue.

Volunteers will be assigned to a section of campus to plant flowers or trees, weed garden beds, spread bark dust, clean up litter and other fun projects. Supplies are provided and employees should check with their supervisor before joining the event.

Sharing one hour of time earns participants a free University Day T-shirt and the satisfaction of contributing to a century-old UO tradition dating back to 1904.

“University Day offers a fun, hands-on opportunity to give back to the campus and take part in a tradition that is rooted in Duck pride, community and service,” said Sarah Rivas, major student events manager for the Division of Student Life.
