With the start of fall term at the University of Oregon less than a week away, there’s a wealth of transportation information available to employees. Read on for the latest regarding bikes, buses, motor pool, events and other details geared to make getting around as easy and environmentally friendly as possible.
Free bus pass for employees: Renewal codes necessary for UO bus passes are available now through Umo, the app used by Lane Transit District to validate fare. And don’t forget Park and Ride — park in designated lots and ride the bus free to the Eugene campus.
Bike registration: Registration of personal bicycles and scooters with the UO is strongly recommended and the process to register is free and fast.
Bike parking: Bikes and scooters may be parked at any public rack at the university and bike lockers and cages are available to students and employees.
General bike support and resources: Get information on bike share, bike maps, the UO Bike Program, other transportation options and more.
Path etiquette: The Eugene campus has several shared paths and many ways people get around. Transportation Services reminds everyone to slow down and be alert while moving. Bikes and scooters should ride on designated Eugene campus routes, using bike lanes in the road when available, and yielding to pedestrians and slower travelers.
UO Motor Pool: The motor pool provides safe, reliable and cost-effective vehicle rentals to faculty, staff and students traveling on behalf of the university. Visit the Motor Pool portal, Fleet Commander, to make a reservation, view rates and manage other motor pool needs.
Driver certification: The UO has a user-friendly process for driver certification that allows the driver to self-certify upon an endorsement from their department. Certification renewals are open for the 2026-27 academic year; drivers are encouraged to renew certification by the Sept. 30 deadline through Transportation Services.
UO commute planning and support drop-in sessions: Get personalized planning help on commute options to the Eugene campus at a drop-in session on Zoom with Rachel Glaeser, active transportation coordinator with Transportation Services.
UO Commute Planning Tool: This interactive map presents recommended transportation options to get from wherever you are to the Eugene campus: direct bus lines, park-and-rides, bike paths, carpooling and more.
Car share, carpool and vanpool: Car share provides short-term rentals of vehicles, typically by the hour or by the day; use car share for errands or off-campus personal trips during the day. Get information on carpools and vanpools, including parking permits and finding a carpool for you. A virtual vanpool information session will be held Oct. 7.
Transportation Day, Oct. 1: The event, running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Erb Memorial Union Green, is an annual celebration of active and shared transportation at UO. Everyone is invited — students, UO employees and any community member who likes to visit the Eugene campus for events and amenities.

Get There Challenge: Join the UO group network for the challenge, which runs Oct. 1-14. The challenge is a two-week competition to log trips and promote greener, more active, and more affordable transportation options with the chance to win prizes, including $25 and $100 gift cards.
Walktober: Events, prizes and trip logging happen Oct 1-31. Use the Get There platform to log trips and earn prizes.
