Duck ID Account Management website login has been improved

The University of Oregon's Duck ID Account Management website just got a little bit easier to log into.

A bundle of changes on Aug. 31 addressed some of the biggest points of confusion that people have experienced with the new Duck ID platform since it launched in February.

Specifically, the site's login page got several improvements:

  • Previously, people could log in only with their Duck ID, the username in their UO email account. Now the username field can accept either a Duck ID or a UO ID number, also known as a 95 number.
  • The label for the username field has been adjusted accordingly.
  • A new "Forgot password" link directs people to their security questions, if necessary.

People who haven't yet set up their security questions are encouraged to do so to ensure self-service access to their own accounts in case they forget their passwords. That's particularly relevant for UO employees who typically do password changes through their Windows workstations using the key combination Ctrl+Alt+Delete and who may not yet have visited the new Duck ID Account Management website at duckid.uoregon.edu.

Tens of thousands of UO community members have already set up their security questions.

The Duck ID website is best known as the place where UO students, staff and faculty members change their Duck ID passwords every six months.

Post-launch improvements to the new platform will continue in the coming months, as announced in August. When that work requires downtime, Information Services will schedule it for times that minimize inconvenience to the UO community. The low-risk Aug. 31 update occurred while the site was up and running.

Notices about each round of maintenance will be posted on the IT Service Status website. That's also where Information Services will post in-the-moment updates if the work runs long or causes unexpected problems.

Anyone with questions can submit a ticket through the Duck ID accounts page in the UO Service Portal, or contact the IT staff who support their unit or the Technology Service Desk.
