Unclassified personnel services is making a significant change in how it delivers notice-of-appointment letters to officers of administration, but the office is not changing the substance of the letters.
The delivery change to an electronic format is being done to streamline the process, said Jamie Moffitt, vice president for finance and administration. Starting this year, the letters will be delivered via Duckweb.
“While this change in delivery format is symbolic of our overarching goal to better leverage technology in our business practices, it does not signify any change to the scope or terms of an OA employee’s annual contract,” Moffitt said. “Our goal is to streamline the annual activity, without altering the substance of the notices.”
Previously, employees needed to formally sign their letters and mail a physical copy back to unclassified personnel services for filing. Now this action will be handled electronically, with employees providing their acceptance online.
“It is our hope that we can build on the success of this new approach and include other employee categories in future years,” added Moffitt. “We believe it will not only save time, but it will save paper and generally streamline the process.”
