The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art will dive into a mystical, animated world by presenting the 2014 film “Song of the Sea” on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
The film will be shown on the Memorial Quad in front of the museum; lawn chairs, blankets and picnic-related items are encouraged.
“Song of the Sea” is based on the Irish legend of the Selkies, mythological shape shifters that can switch between human and seal forms. The film tells the story of Saoirse, a Selkie, her human brother, Ben, and their journey through a world of magic and modernity to discover the secrets of their past. The film received critical acclaim and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
The movie will begin at 8:30 p.m. and free beverages will be provided. In the event of rain, the program will be moved inside the museum.
