The office for Research, Innovation, and Graduate Education will highlight the role research plays – on campus and beyond – with special events throughout October that are geared toward the UO and local communities.

Research at the University of Oregon advances Oregon's civic, social and cultural landscapes and serves as an engine for economic growth in Eugene and across the state.

Research Month was kicked off on Tuesday, Oct. 1, with the Innovation Seminar Series, which featured Joe Loueriro, a biomedical researcher for the Novartis Institutes.

Upcoming events include the NOVA Innovation Café at Cozmic Pizza (Oct. 10), Startup Weekend Eugene (Oct. 11-13), Research Faculty Breakfast with President Gottfredson (Oct. 16), Bowerman Sports Science Clinic open house (Oct. 24) and the Presidential Research Lecture (Oct. 30).

In addition, a variety of lectures on everything from the Higgs boson to shipwrecks on the coast of Oregon to pre-1979 Hip Hop performance will be presented as part of Research Month.
