Storytellers sought to tell tales of the collective human experience

Are you a storyteller? Do you want to become one? University of Oregon students, staff, faculty and community members can apply by Feb. 22 to present their story at “Intertwined 2026: Roots: Stories of Belonging and Becoming.”

Selected participants will be paired with a personal story coach who will help them craft their narrative and mentor them on writing and public speaking.

Intertwined is a storytelling event hosted by the Division of Equity and Inclusion aimed at increasing love, authenticity, courage and empathy on campus that will spotlight 12 storytellers each with a five-minute personal narrative, accompanied by a live, unique musical composition, performed by a UO community member. The project is celebrating its 10th anniversary and will take place May 12-13.

“It was an amazing process to work with a story coach to find the story I wanted to share. Getting up there and actually sharing it was a challenge worth overcoming. I grew so much from the process and felt a real sense of pride for moving through my fears and discomfort. The community that shows up to bear witness is incredibly generous and supportive. I highly recommend participating,” said Sierra Dawson, associate vice provost for faculty and leadership development in the Office of the Provost.

To prepare for the application, those interested can RSVP for a Feb. 10 storytelling workshop in Condon Hall.
