The IAAF World Junior Championships, being held this week on the UO campus, will offer free admission for all morning sessions to university employees.
Afternoon sessions are not free and tickets are available for purchase at Oregon14.com. The competitions will take place starting Tuesday, July 22, and will continue through July 27. All events take place at Hayward Field.
More than 1,600 athletes under age 20 will participate this year. The junior athletes represent 178 countries and will compete in events such as javelin throw, pole vault and long jump as well as short, middle and distance races.
This is the first time in IAAF history that the junior championships will be held on American soil.
