UO Undergraduate Symposium now accepting submissions

Abstracts are due by March 19 for the Undergraduate Symposium, an opportunity for UO students to develop and present innovative contributions in the sciences, social sciences, arts and humanities.

Information about the submission process and applications can be found online.

The Undergraduate Symposium has taken place for four years. The Division of Undergraduate Studies puts on the event, partnering with University Housing, the Robert D. Clark honors College, UO Libraries and the Office of Equity and Inclusion

Each year, more than 100 students have the opportunity to present work. A goal for the 2014 Symposium is to involve more students than previous years, and increase visibility to the campus and Eugene community. The Undergraduate Symposium aims to highlight student achievements and encourage further innovation.

An information session will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, in the EMU Fir Room. All interested undergrads are welcome to attend. A series of workshops will be offered during winter and spring terms to guide students through the process.

The symposium itself will be held on May 15 in the EMU. Student work will be shared through a variety of forms including posters, installations, and concurrent panels.

A closing reception will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on May 15 in the EMU Ballroom and terrace. The event will provide an opportunity for the public to view student work, mingle, listen to live music and interact with students.
