UO faculty and staff are receiving a folder of information designed to help them assist students who may be facing academic or social challenges or emergencies.
The folders say “See Something, Say Something, Do Something” across the top and lists dozens of resources, phone numbers and websites.
Vice President for Student Life Robin Holmes said the folders are designed to help faculty and staff, who often interact with students daily, know where to turn if students seems to be in distress or if they reach out looking for help.
“We know college can be a stressful time for many students,” Holmes said. “They are balancing a lot of issues both inside the classroom and out. We want our students to feel supported and to know we all care about them. Our faculty and staff can and do play a big role in ensuring students know where to turn for help and support.”
The folder contains information on helping students with academic difficulty and connecting students with mental health services and support services for incidents of sexual harassment or sexual misconduct.
The folders are designed to be quick-glance resources and a place for faculty and staff to collect other useful information about campus resources supporting students. The university also has created a companion website with all the same information and links to reporting policies or to request a folder.
“This is all about being a community that helps each other,” Holmes said. “We really hope people find these useful.”
