It’s that time of year again when the bike racks are swept away and replaced with food trucks, vendors and the lively energy of spring.
The Associated Students of the University of Oregon Spring Street Faire festivities will run from Wednesday, May 8 through Friday, May 10. The event will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., transforming the heart of the Eugene campus with festivities, food and fun.
The typical ASUO Street Faire experience that attendees are used to takes place mostly on East 13th Avenue between University and Kincaid streets with additional events at the Erb Memorial Union Amphitheater. This spring, however, it will be expanding to also include the Condon and Chapman lawns across from the Lillis Business Complex. Vendors will face the sidewalk on both sides to keep the area accessible.
Fairgoers can expect to see many of their favorite attractions return as well as countless new faces that will appear thanks to the increased footprint of the event.
Emily Knowles, the street faire administrative coordinator, is one of the students involved with the planning this spring. “This year we have been expanding the scope of the faire, which means I have been able to reach out to many new businesses throughout Eugene.”
Knowles and the rest of the team are excited at the opportunity to invite even more parts of the Eugene community to participate. One of the most rewarding parts of the planning is to witness the excitement students and staff have when interacting with new vendors.
“We want all students to be able to participate in this event and feel connected with the university,” Knowles said.
