University of Oregon students taking summer classes can continue using Adobe Creative Cloud software on personal computers for free through Aug. 15.

Adobe recently announced the limited extension of its expanded student access, which the company had originally granted through May 31, then extended through July 6.

Instructions for students to download Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat and related Adobe applications are available in the UO Service Portal. Students may install the software on up to two personal devices each.

Adobe is temporarily allowing use of Creative Cloud on students' personal computers to support remote education during COVID-19. Previously, UO student access was limited to campus computer labs.

The latest extension allows students taking summer courses to continue using Creative Cloud on personal computers through the end of UO's eight-week summer session and second four-week summer session. It is currently unclear whether Adobe will extend student access beyond Aug. 15.

For UO students who aren't enrolled in any summer classes, free access to the software on their personal computers ended July 6. It remains available through the campus virtual lab.

As UO employees, graduate employees can continue using Creative Cloud. Unrelated to the COVID-19 outbreak, UO staff, faculty members and graduate employees may install the software on up to two computers, which may include both university-owned and personal devices. To obtain Creative Cloud software, employees should follow the instructions for employees in the UO Service Portal.

For help with software, students can contact the Technology Service Desk or visit the new software and application helppage in the UO Service Portal. Staff and faculty members should contact IT staff in their respective units, if available, or the Tech Desk or they can visit the software and application help page.
