Anshuman “A.R.” Razdan, a leader in research development, has been selected as the next vice president for research and innovation for the University of Oregon.
Razdan will oversee the support for research centers and core facilities, while providing strategic investment, leadership and vision for the university’s entire research enterprise through the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation.
“I am thrilled that Dr. Razdan will be joining us as our new VPRI,” said Michael H. Schill, UO president and professor of law. “He has an extensive background in research administration and an impressive track record of catalyzing innovation, assembling diverse teams and building capacity for major funding opportunities. I want to thank Provost Phillips for leading this important and successful search.”
Razdan comes to the UO from the University of Delaware, where he served as the associate vice president of research development.

In his previous position, Razdan took a leading role in establishing the university’s research development office. His efforts unlocked industry and philanthropic research opportunities, increased institutional competitiveness, and developed strengths across multiple disciplines for the institution’s research enterprise. Razdan was essential in the office’s ability to win grants, raise funds, and launch projects, including the upcoming launch of a $10 million center on clean energy.
Razdan holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Kurukshetra University (National Institute of Technology) in India, and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and a doctoral degree in computer science from Arizona State University.
He will start the new role in July 2022.
