Applications are now open for the UO’s Humanities Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program, which provides mentored research opportunities in the humanities to undergraduate students.

This program lets students pursue a 16-week humanities research project under the guidance of a UO faculty member during winter and spring terms. All fellows will present their work at the Undergraduate Research Symposium in May.

Last year’s recipients pursued projects that included Cuban migration, speech perception, gender and class in Beirut’s beauty salons and investigative memoirs.

Fellows will have the opportunity to discuss their projects with peers and attend seminars that will help them hone research and communication skills. Seminar topics will cover areas such as developing research skills, communicating research orally and in writing, understanding the ethics of research, and preparing for graduate school and other career opportunities.

The Humanities Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program is the result of a collaboration between the Oregon Humanities Center, the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation, the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program and the Division of Undergraduate Studies.
