Flocks of new Ducks are headed to campus, and the university is clearing a spot for their landing.
The big splashdown is Thursday, Sept. 21, when about 3,000 students, along with helping families, move into the residence halls, aided by Unpack the Quack. Week of Welcome events follow, finishing with convocation on Sunday, Sept. 24.
This festive but busy time on campus brings temporary changes to normal routines: traffic in the east campus area near the residence halls will be packed, and parking will be scarce. Those not helping out with move-in should steer clear and consider traveling by foot, bike or bus.
A map with traffic changes and other information is available online.
Move-in continues Friday, followed by a 4,000-student pep rally at 4 p.m. at Matthew Knight Arena and a 5 p.m. parade to the Erb Memorial Union. Areas at East 13th Avenue and Franklin Boulevard, East 15th Avenue and Agate Street and East 13th Avenue and Columbia Street will be closed about 20 minutes during the parade.
For the full schedule of events and more, see the Week of Welcome website.
