Recently hired by the University of Oregon College of Education as a tutoring graduate teaching fellow, Matt Graham believes that tutoring can make a big difference in a student’s academic experience.
“I am passionate about tutoring because I am passionate about learning,” Graham said. “The University of Oregon has so many incredible scholars and educators who are dedicated to the academic development of their students; however, even with our small class sizes, it is impossible for the staff to meet the unique needs of every learner they serve.”
Currently a first-year doctoral student in the critical and sociocultural studies in education program, Graham thinks of tutoring as a team effort.
“By providing one-on-one attention, our tutors are able to build on the faculty’s exceptional instruction and help students develop the requisite scaffolding necessary for academic success.”

In addition to tutoring, Student Academic Services in the COE offers test preparation, professional and career development workshops, academic advising referrals, information on degree and licensure requirements, academic programs, university policies and procedures, and other resources available to students.
“I encourage everyone to stop by and check us out,” Graham said.
