The University of Oregon continues to share information about how the institution is monitoring the spread of COVID-19 and responding to the new coronavirus outbreak.
All UO facilities, including the Portland campus, are open and operating under normal schedules. Decisions about campus closures would occur in coordination with the Oregon Health Authority and county health departments.
Andre Le Duc, chief resilience officer and associate vice president, sent a message to campus providing information about how the incident management team continues to work closely with local and state public health authorities to monitor the spread of the outbreak. In that message he said the university has increased cleaning per protocol and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations on campus, restricted international travel in high-risk countries, and activated teams to develop academic and research continuity plans.
The planning teams continue to work on continuity plans and are providing updates to the UO's coronavirus webpage, which includes an FAQ and links to additional information about the novel coronavirus.
The university continues to advise people who are sick to stay home and not go to work or class. Le Duc is reminding campus that the best way to prevent the spread of illness is to wash hands and follow other guidelines from the CDC.
Additional updates will continue to be provided to campus by email and through updates to the coronavirus webpage.
