The UO is inviting instructors and professors to open their classrooms to visiting families and alumni on the first day of the annual Spring Family Weekend in April.
The event runs April 28-30, and classroom visits will take place Friday, April 28. Faculty members interested in participating are asked to submit information about their open classes via an online survey form or by emailing the course name, course number, instructor name, location and time available to myduckis@uoregon.edu by Friday, April 14.
“Involved and informed parent and family members are instrumental in their student’s success and persistence,” said Erika Swanson, director of Parent and Family Programs in the Division of Student Life. “With faculty help, we can provide families the opportunity to experience UO academics. Our visitors sincerely appreciate the ability to witness the caliber of instruction and student inquiry that happens every day across campus.”
Swanson said when parents and family members sit in on a class it fosters confidence in their students’ choice to attend the UO and better understand the day-to-day student experience. Parents and family members will be asked not to participate or disrupt class unless invited to take part.
The UO expects about 500 family members to visit campus. They also will take part in activities at the Craft Center, attend the spring football game, watch baseball and softball games, and go on winery and rafting tours.
