The Provost Search Committee and President Michael H. Schill are inviting members of the University of Oregon faculty to apply for the position of provost and senior vice president.
In a message to campus on April 25, Schill announced the university would conduct an internal search to replace Provost Jayanth Banavar, who earlier this year announced his intention to step down at the end of the academic term. Banavar will join the faculty as a professor of physics.
The provost position description requires that candidates be tenured members of the UO faculty and hold a doctorate or equivalent terminal degree. Search committee co-Chairs Alec Murphy and Elizabeth Skowron, both faculty members, and Schill said they are seeking an “energetic, engaged, collaborative, decisive, and respected leader and communicator who is fundamentally committed to advancing the University of Oregon’s mission as a leading institution of higher education and research.”
Interested candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, a letter of interest and three references electronically to search@uoregon.edu. Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14.
Additional information about the position responsibilities, qualifications and application process are posted on the provost search webpage on the Office of the President website
