Applications are due Jan. 19 for faculty members interested in sustainability and community-engaged learning fellowships offered by the Office of Sustainability.

The Sustainability Faculty Fellowship provides opportunities to meet community partners — such as staff from the city of Eugene, Food for Lane County and UO Campus Planning and Facilities Management — and helps participants build a network of colleagues who seek local context to enrich their courses.

Ten faculty fellows will receive a $500 award and take part in a three-day intensive workshop in June discussing issues of sustainability and community-engaged learning. The workshop will include site visits to government, nonprofit and for-profit organizations, giving fellows the opportunity to establish partnerships for learning opportunities within the community.

Faculty members from all disciplines and experience levels are encouraged to apply, particularly those with no previous experience in including sustainability in their curriculum or research. Interdisciplinary team applications also will be accepted.

After the workshop, fellows can receive an additional $500 award for submitting curriculum that has been revised or newly created to incorporate topics of sustainability.
