Find the UO wherever you go in Oregon this summer

As summer approaches and the University of Oregon gears up to sponsor the World Athletic Championships, Eugene and Oregon will be brimming with celebrations from around the globe.

Whether staying in town to cheer on world athletes, or traveling around the state, plenty of opportunities can be found to keep the Duck spirit alive. The UO sponsors a variety of events throughout the summer, and here is a snapshot of the festivities:

Spirit Mountain Casino Grand Floral Parade, June 11:

Celebrate the return of the Portland Rose Festival, now in its 115th year, with the Duck.

Festival-goers can catch the Duck Truck and get down with the UO cheer squad. The parade runs from 10 a.m.-noon and will travel from the Memorial Coliseum, down MLK Jr. Boulevard, turn left on Lloyd Boulevard, and end at NE Multnomah Street near the Lloyd Center.

Portland Pride Waterfront Festival and Parade, June 18-19:

Located at the Tom McCall Waterfront Park, festivities will extend down Naito Parkway from north of Ash Street to the Morrison Bridge. Attendees will be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination upon entry to the festival grounds. Come celebrate Portland Pride events June 18 from noon-6 p.m. and June 19 from 11:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Official Pride events will be held citywide celebrating different aspects of LGTQIA+ pride throughout the month of June.

Good in the Hood, June 24-26:

The University of Oregon is the title sponsor for the 29th annual multicultural music and food festival held in northeast Portland. This annual three-day festival is the largest of its type in the Pacific Northwest and opens with a parade that ends at the festival site. Come say hello at the UO booth and enjoy featured performances by Andy Stokes, Bridge City Soul, festival headliner Glen Jones, and many other artists.

Woodburn Fiesta Mexicana, August 19-21:

Beginning in 1964 as a celebration marking the end of the harvest season, Fiesta Mexicana features live music, food and festivities, including a car show and parade. Culminating with a coronation of the weekend’s queen, the festival is a great opportunity to learn about the rich history and celebrate Mexican cultural traditions. Events will take place throughout the weekend at Legion Park in Woodburn.
