Four teams face off in final event for interface design challenge

Four teams of UO students will square off in the final round of “Duck Tank,” a competition to develop the best new computer interface design.

Styled on the “Shark Tank” television show, the competition is the culmination of the Colligan User Interface Design Challenge. The event starts at 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, in the Giustina Ballroom of the Ford Alumni Center and is free and open to the public.

The challenge is a four-month-long event in which 14 teams made up of 38 undergraduate and graduate students, representing 11 majors from product design to human physiology, compete to create meaningful and market relevant user experience concepts. The competition has been narrowed to the final four teams who will be presenting their unique design concepts, which include mobile apps, digital kiosks, and other innovative designs.
