Global Education Oregon will host a weeklong virtual series in place of its annual in-person Study Abroad Fair.
This year’s fair will be a series of drop-in events during the first week of spring term, March 30 to April 2. The office is hopeful study abroad programs will run this summer and beyond, so the fair will support students planning for a study abroad experience.
Students can get their questions answered at the fair, along with help navigating scholarships. Multiple faculty members, advisers, staff and other students also will be there to guide participants.
“Study abroad takes some planning,” said Quinne Hauth, the global engagement program coordinator for Global Education Oregon. “With advancements in the vaccination effort and some good news about fall term, we are staying positive and hopeful to run travel-based study abroad programs in summer 2021. When the world reopens, will students be ready? That’s what we’re trying to plan for.”
This year the Study Abroad Fair includes a range of topics, from health and safety to sustainability. The fair also will offer virtual Bingo, where students can win money to use towards a future program. Parents and family members also are encouraged to join the events to learn more.
“If you want to study abroad during your time at the UO, it’s never too early to reach out to GEO, start planning for scholarships, and find the program that fits your academic and career goals,” Hauth said. “The Study Abroad Fair is the perfect one-stop-shop to do that.”
