Incoming President Michael Schill arrives in Eugene this week

Incoming UO President Michael Schill will be arriving in Eugene this week to settle into his presidential office in Johnson Hall and move into McMorran House. Schill sent an email to faculty and staff expressing his excitement about joining the Duck community.

“I am grateful to the dozens of people who have taken the time to help me learn about the university, the community, and the culture in Eugene over the last couple of months,” Schill said. “To those of you I have not yet had the pleasure to meet, I’m sincerely looking forward to getting to know you and the entire UO family. I am excited to get to work and absorb life in the Pacific Northwest.”

Schill invited the campus community to stop by and say hello at a reception at Allen Hall at 3 p.m. July 6.

He also thanked interim President Scott Coltrane and acting Provost Frances Bronet for their leadership, saying he would not be as well prepared without their dedication and wise counsel.

Schill said he anticipates the coming week to bring a great new era for the university.

“I am humbled to have been offered this role at this amazing institution and I truly believe that — together — we CAN make this university as great as it can be. I cannot wait to get started. “
