Information Services has simplified how campus visitors connect to guest Wi-Fi.

Since December, guests visiting the university can connect to "UO Guest," review the acceptable use policy and click the "Accept" button. Previously, visitors had to set up a username and password to log in for Wi-Fi.

"The old method, where you had to enter a username and set up a password, was complicated to use and support," said Matt Riley, chief technology officer. "So we developed this new method to make the process easier for our visitors and anyone hosting guests."

The new guest Wi-Fi service also eliminates the seven-day limit on visitors' wireless access. Guests can now get Wi-Fi indefinitely, though visitors will need to click the "accept" button with each visit to campus.

University students and employees should use the UO Secure Wi-Fi network to ensure access to university IT services such as Canvas and shared files. UO Secure is also less hassle over time. Once a device is set up to use UO Secure, it will log in automatically upon arrival on campus.
