Jane Gordon has been named vice president for UO Portland as a recognition of her leadership and the University of Oregon Portland forthcoming move to a 19-acre campus.

Gordon has been vice provost of Portland since 2016, launching programs such as the Portland Internship Experience, growing support services for Portland students, and providing operational integration of academic programs.

In 1989 she joined the UO School of Law, where she was associate dean for student and program affairs as well as director of the Appropriate Dispute Resolution Center. She started in the Office of the Provost in 2013 and led the implementation of the first faculty union contract. She also facilitated the President’s Review Panel on Sexual Assault, as well as the Committee on Confidentiality, before becoming interim vice provost of Portland in 2015.

As vice president, Gordon will continue to oversee operations related to Portland, at both the White Stag Block and the new campus in northeast Portland. Both locations will have students and staff during the 2023-24 academic year, with all UO Portland programs consolidated on the new campus by fall 2024. With more than 20 buildings and nearly 400,000 square feet, the new campus will house UO Portland academic, research and administrative programs, including the new Ballmer Institute for Children’s Behavioral Health. The campus has student housing and will eventually include onsite dining and recreation opportunities.
