TrackTown USA is reaching out to University of Oregon faculty, staff, students and community members to find volunteers for the IAAF World Junior Championships, taking place from July 22-27 at the UO's historic Hayward Field.
This will be the first time the event has been held in the United States and is expected to attract about 1,600 track and field athletes under the age of 19 from around the world. It will be the first trip to the U.S. for many of the participants, and TrackTown USA officials hope to help make it a positive experience for athletes, team officials, coaches and spectators by signing up 900 volunteers.
Volunteer registration for the event is now open. All volunteers will receive apparel and hospitality during their shifts. Those who sign up must be at least 15 years of age and able to take on at least four shifts.
Volunteer opportunities will include athlete hospitality, event operations, accreditation, bicycle valet, guest services, media services and more.
A new, online registration module also serves as the volunteer sign-up for the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, June 11-14, and for the 2014 Eugene Marathon and Half Marathon on July 27. Visit the TrackTown USA website to volunteer for any of the three events.
After visiting the site, direct any questions regarding the IAAF World Junior Championships to volunteers@gotracktownusa.com or call the TrackTown USA office at 541-343-6129.
