"Busy" doesn't even begin to describe the University of Oregon campus this Friday, Oct. 17, the start of Homecoming 2014.
Check out this event list: the ASUO Street Fair, a homecoming parade, an invitation-only university celebration event at Hayward Field, the 50th reunion for the class of 1964, alumni awards and a Phish concert. And it all happens the day before the Ducks play host to the Huskies at Autzen Stadium.
While it's a great time to be on campus and enjoy the atmosphere, it's also a good day to ride a bike, take the bus or at least read the following information, because traffic and parking are going to be challenging. Even UO permit holders will have restrictions on where they can park on campus.
Starting at 2 p.m. Friday, East 13th Avenue will be closed from Franklin Boulevard to Agate Street for parade staging. At 3:30 p.m., the parade will head west on 13th to University Street, and access to Agate Street from Franklin Boulevard will be closed until the parade passes. During the parade, 13th Avenue from Agate Street to University Street will be closed.
Numerous parking lots around campus also will be affected; some will be closed all day, and others must be vacated by 5:30 p.m. Also, parking meters on portions of University, Kincaid and Agate streets will be reserved and marked with red hoods, along with meters at other locations around campus.
