Erik Girvan, a UO associate law professor, will talk about implicit bias at the next Officers of Administration Council meeting from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13. The meeting will be in the Redwood Auditorium in the Erb Memorial Union and streamed to UO Portland in Room 150 of the White Stag Block.
Girvan’s research investigates how stereotypes, attitudes and other biases might affect decisions in the legal system and related contexts, such as school discipline decisions. He empirically tests practical ways to reduce or eliminate implicit biases by working with a diverse variety of legal and other professionals.
Attendees are encouraged to RSVP for the OA Council meeting.
The OA Council is also conducting a series of listening tours based on the results of a recent workplace survey of OAs. A series of sessions has been set up on Wednesdays from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the EMU. A UO Portland session will be noon to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 19, in Room 150. Feedback from the sessions will guide the OA Council in setting priorities and an action plan.
Please RSVP to one of the OA listening sessions. A summary of the survey results is available at the RSVP link.
