UO researchers and scholars were recently featured in stories about the history of white supremacy in Oregon, how the brain is affected by meditation and “moral injury” in veterans.

Other coverage centered on the Knight Campus and the UO’s request for state support. The Associated Press published a story, The Register-Guard ran two editorials and an op-ed was featured in The Oregonian.

Here are some other places where UO researchers were mentioned in the media:

• The New York Times featured research from UO neuroscientist Cristopher Niell in “Of Mice and Mindfulness.”
• The AP published a story on Eugene leaders asking state lawmakers to invest in the Knight Campus. This was run in dozens of outlets around the nation. The Register-Guard urged support for the Knight Campus in two separate editorials: “Approve UO bonds” and “Win-win for UO, state.” The Oregonian also published an op-ed authored by UO biologist Karen Guillemin and two doctoral students about a roadmap for greater science diversity through the Knight Campus. 
• A number of outlets covered the Portland stabbings and incorporated the expertise of UO faculty members. UO sociologist Randy Blazak and UO creative writing professor Garret Hongo are quoted in an OPB story, Blazak is also quoted in The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and was interviewed on All Things Considered.
• UO architecture professor Kevin Nute wrote “Frank Lloyd Wright’s Japanese education” for The Conversation. This was picked up by Smithsonian, News Times and the Houston Chronicle.
• UO psychologist Holly Arrow authored “'Moral injury' in veterans can be as harmful as physical wounds” for The Conversation. It was picked up by several outlets including Newsweek.
• The New York Times included a quote from UO geographer Alec Murphy in “If Americans Can Find North Korea on a Map, They’re More Likely to Prefer Diplomacy.”
• PBS used expert commentary from UO marketing professor Troy Campbell in “Taking Politics Out of Climate Change.”
• UO law professor Merle Weiner and psychology professor Jennifer Freyd are quoted in The Chronicle of Higher Education in “What’s Required of a Professor Who Learns of a Student’s Rape? One University Seeks a Nuanced Answer.”
