MediaStorm executive producer to visit the UO

Brian Storm, executive producer of the multimedia studio MediaStorm, will visit the School of Journalism and Communication Feb. 20-22 as the 2014 SOJC Frazier Journalist-in-Residence.

Storm will be leading workshops for students and participating in discussions with faculty. In addition, he will offer a public presentation, “Multimedia Storytelling @ MediaStorm,” from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, in the Ford Alumni Center Giustina Ballroom. Members of the public and campus community are invited to attend at no charge, but registration is recommended. To reserve a seat at the presentation, email SOJC Event Manager Erika Vogt at evogt@uoregon.edu.

Drawing from experiences with his production company, Storm’s presentation will emphasize how the digital age gives filmmakers, documentary photographers and photojournalists extraordinary and unprecedented new ways to tell stories.

Launched by Storm in 2005, MediaStorm has won three Emmys, three Online Journalism awards, five Webby awards, and the first DuPont Award for a Web-based production in 2010 and the first for Digital Reporting in 2012. Storm previously spent two years as vice president of News, Multimedia and Assignment Services for Corbis, a digital media agency founded and owned by Bill Gates. From 1995 to 2002, he also served as the first director of multimedia at MSNBC.com.
