The call went out, and the music rolled in.
In March, by official proclamation of the Oregon Legislature, the state celebrated Mighty Oregon Day to recognize the centennial of the UO fight song. Oregon Athletic Bands even released an album of multiple “Mighty Oregon” versions.
The entire UO community was invited you to get in on the action by tagging a new cover version of "Mighty Oregon" with #MightyOregon100 on Twitter or Instagram for a chance to win tickets to the Ducks’ season opener Sept. 3 at Autzen Stadium.
And the Ducks came marching in. When all the notes had settled, two winning entries rang out.
First up is Hannah Breyer's tongue-in-cheek, one-woman viola ensemble. That's followed by Cameron Joublin's co-winning entry, performed in part on the melodica.
Last, there's runner-up Peyton Zeigler, who won a UO Duck Store gift card with her sweet and upbeat rendering of "Mighty Oregon" on ukulele.
I never post videos of me singing, but I feel like I should in honor of #MightyOregon100. #GoDucks pic.twitter.com/jWKXRKA67S
