Time is running out for those who want to get a seasonal flu shot at special morning clinics for faculty and staff offered by the University Health Center.
Reserved hours for faculty and staff will end Friday, Dec. 4. Between now and then, shots are available from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The health center is at 1590 E. 13th Ave.
Clinics will not be offered on Thursday, Nov. 19; Thursday, Nov. 26; and Friday, Nov. 27.
Getting protection in place early in the season is advised, health center officials said. The quadrivalent flu vaccine that is being provided this year protects against four different flu strains that are expected to be active this year; two influenza A and two influenza B viruses.
To receive a vaccine, a UO identification card must be shown, along with a Providence PEBB or a Moda insurance card. Immunizations against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (whooping cough) also will be available.
Those covered by all other insurance types will need to pay $30 in cash or by check, or UO accounts can be billed. An itemized receipt will be provided for requesting reimbursement from an insurance company.
Up to 50 people can be accommodated each day. Faculty and staff can receive shots during regular clinic hours, but students will be given top priority.
