Mark Yuran started Oct. 14 as chief human resources officer for the University of Oregon, bringing a progressive approach honed over 20 years within higher education and corporate systems.

Yuran, formerly in the same position at Minnesota State University, Moorhead, is a versatile and effective leader with a deep understanding of organizations and operations, said Jamie Moffitt, UO chief financial officer.

“We are entering a very dynamic and exciting period in the UO’s history,” Moffitt said. “I am confident Mark will apply his experience and skills to help us further the mission of our university, and to embrace the changing needs of our institution.”

Yuran succeeds Linda King, who retired this fall as associate vice president for human relations after about 30 years at the UO. King is continuing to work on some projects for the university.

Yuran previously was human resources officer for the Technical College System of Georgia. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of West Georgia and a master’s of education in human resources and organizational development from the University of Georgia.
