The University of Oregon and Lane Community College have launched a new partnership that will make it easier for Titans to become Ducks, and vice versa.
The agreement, formalized in a memorandum of understanding, will help identify and reduce barriers, including perceived barriers, for LCC students wanting to transition their education to the UO to earn an undergraduate degree.
“We want to provide students with flexibility and ease in following the educational track they choose,” said UO Provost Patrick Phillips. “Lane Community College is an important partner for the UO and we’re hopeful that we can make the path between our institutions one that is very easy for students to see.”
Under the agreement, the two institutions will collaborate in identifying LCC students potentially interested in transferring to the UO earlier on, placing them in the “DuckLane.”
"We are all very excited to solidify this relationship with the University of Oregon, the primary transfer destination for many of our students,” said LCC Provost Paul Jarrell. “This is a big first step forward in making that transition as seamless as possible. We are looking forward to being partners in the success of our students.”
Prospective transfer students will be provided more information and outreach about the academic opportunities and resources the UO has to offer. They will receive additional support and regular contact while at LCC from UO staff as they work through the admissions, financial aid and advising processes at the UO.
The institutions also will look at ways to form program-specific transfer agreements that will optimize points of transfer and academic credit portability for students.
