The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art will be center stage during two February episodes of the public television program “Oregon Art Beat.”
The Thursday, Feb. 4, episode of “Oregon Art Beat” will have a Eugene focus, and stories include artist Tannaz Farsi, associate professor of sculpture in the Department of Art; Eugene-based dance organization DanceAbility; and print artist Tallmadge Doyle, who has work in the Ford Alumni Center.
Johanna Seasonwein, senior curator of Western art at the museum, also is included in a segment on “First Folio! The Book That Gave Use Shakespeare, on tour from the Folger Shakespeare Library.” The First Folio is on view until Feb. 7 and admission to the museum is free.
The Feb. 11 episode of “Oregon Art Beat” includes an interview with University of Oregon alum and McCosh Associate Curator Danielle Knapp on the museum’s exhibition “Shaping the Collection: 50 Years of Pacific Northwest Sculpture at the JSMA.” On view through Sept. 4, this installation highlights artists, donors and collecting interests that have contributed to the museum’s holdings of Pacific Northwest sculpture over the past 50 years.
“Oregon Art Beat” is broadcast by Portland station KOPB on Thursdays at 8 p.m. and rebroadcast Sundays at 1 a.m. and 6 p.m.
