The Oregon Bach Festival hasn’t forgotten its roots, but it has grown.

The festival’s 46th season, which begins its 18-day run June 25, again includes an array of music that at times goes beyond classical, and beyond Bach, to illuminate the influence Johann Sebastian Bach had down through history. That perspective is how interim executive director Michael Anderson described the festival’s evolution for a recent story in The Register-Guard.

Anderson told the newspaper the festival has morphed over the years to include other classical composers and even contemporary music as a way to celebrate Bach’s legacy. The festival opens with a performance of Franz Joseph Haydn’s “The Creation” in the Silva Concert Hall of the Hult Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Eugene.
