The UO is on track with plans to boost research and grow its tenure-track faculty, President Michael Schill told The Chronicle of Higher Education in a video interview.
The interview, with reporter Jack Stripling, appeared on the publication’s website May 1. Stripling talks with Schill about his moves to realign the university’s budget with its academic priorities, including the decision to end a marketing contract with outside consultants.
Schill also talked about ongoing efforts to bring more tenure-track research faculty to campus while reducing the number of nontenure-track faculty.
“We're really grateful to our nontenured or untenured faculty who are doing a lot of our teaching,” he said. “But what we really need to focus on in the future is research and tenure-track faculty.”
