University of Oregon professors Gordon Sayre and Larry Sugiyama were featured in the Register-Guard on Tuesday about their respective classes on cars and human attraction.
Sayre’s folklore class, Car Cultures, and Sugiyama’s anthropology class, Human Attraction and Mating Strategies, were previously offered as experimental classes, but have recently been approved as permanent class offerings by the UO Committee on Courses.
A class that fills up each time it's taught, Human Attraction and Mating Strategies delves into the evolutionary psychology involved in attraction and choosing a mate.
With a disporportionate number of males and international students enrolled in the class, Car Cultures discusses why people chose to buy the cars they purchase and how cars have been changed and adapted to sell in larger emerging markets including China.
