The University of Oregon is hosting a campus event that provides an opportunity for employees to share their workplace and the university environment with their children.
The UO Take Our Children to Work event is Thursday, April 27, in the Ford Alumni Center’s Giustina Ballroom. Children ages 9 to 13, accompanied by a parent, are invited to attend. Registration is required.
This year’s event will begin with breakfast at 8:30 a.m., hosted by the Office of Human Resources. HR representatives will provide tabletop activities for parents and children to do together while everyone gathers for the day.
HR also will provide information about opportunities across the Eugene campus organized and hosted by units and departments to give participants a peek inside unique aspects of the university. From there, participants set out on their own self-guided exploration of the Eugene campus, visiting designated departments and locations at their own pace and based on their own preferences.
The Duck will make an appearance at the morning session, and the event includes a raffle prize drawing.
Children attending the event must be registered in advance, provide a permission form signed by their parent or guardian, and be accompanied by an adult at all times. Employees should schedule time off to attend the event with their child or children and coordinate with their supervisor to visit their workspace as part of their campus tour. Arrangements should be discussed and approved in advance.
Registration is now open with a deadline of April 21. Registration instructions and an event schedule are available on the Take Our Children to Work Day webpage.
