Run with a UO researcher during the Olympic Trials

On a campus synonymous with world class runners and top-flight researchers, here’s a chance to combine the two.

RUN WITH A RESEARCHER

WHEN: 8 a.m., July 1-10 (except  July 4 and 5)
WHERE: Meet the researchers in front of the UO Student Recreation Center (E. 15th Ave., just east of University St.)
ROUTES: Depending on the day, they range from a flat 2.6 miles to a 4-plus-mile climb to Pre’s Rock
CONTACT: experts@uoregon.edu or 541-346-9134

Starting at 8 a.m. most days during the Olympic Trials, July 1-10, some of the UO’s finest scholars and researchers will lead free community runs as part of the University of Oregon's “Run with a Researcher." Runners of all types — track fans, visitors, guests, faculty, students, parents and family from all corners of the world — are invited to meet in front of the UO Student Recreation Center, 1320 E. 15th Ave., for a conversational trot through campus and surrounding trails.

Participants will head past libraries and research labs before enjoying Pre’s Trail or a loop up to Pre’s Rock, both inspired by the late, great Steve Prefontaine.

Participants receive free T-shirts and passes to the UO Rec Center where they can shower. Runners and researchers will rest on July 4 and July 5 before resuming on July 6.
