Journeys are transformative. Whether leaving, returning or somewhere in between, everyone has a story to tell about paths they have taken and how they’ve been changed by experiences along the way.

A free storytelling event featuring members of the University of Oregon community, “Intertwined: Journeys,” will include 11 storytellers — faculty, staff, and undergraduate and graduate students — sharing their personal stories about how journeys have shaped their identities.

“It’s not often that we take the time to listen to one another’s perspectives,” said Abigail Leeder, director of experiential education and prevention initiatives with the Office of the Dean of Students. “With ‘Intertwined’ we create an environment to witness each other’s stories.”

Two nights of storytelling will be held May 10 and 11 in the Global Scholars Hall Great Room. Doors open at 7 p.m. with performances beginning at 7:30. Storytellers will be accompanied by local musician Cullen Vance.

“Last year it was such an incredibly touching, beautiful night. We added a second performance so more people have the opportunity to experience it,” Leeder said.

Organizers are requesting RSVPs to estimate the number of attendees each night, but seats are not reserved. People are encouraged to arrive early, enjoy refreshments and contribute to an interactive art display.
