Students are invited to learn more about and offer feedback on tuition for the next academic year at a public forum Jan. 23.

The forum will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Erb Memorial Union’s Crater Lake rooms (145 and 146). Pizza and salad from Bartolotti’s will be available for those attending.

The Associated Students of the University of Oregon and the university’s Tuition and Fee Advisory Board will hold the forum. The advisory board, which is comprised of students, staff and faculty members, is the university’s official tuition and fee advisory group. It advises on matters that pertain to the cost of attendance at the university.

Those include undergraduate and graduate tuition, and mandatory and nonmandatory fees, such as housing costs and course fees. It is charged by the university president with reviewing tuition and fee proposals each year and providing recommendations to him.

The next opportunity to provide input is a forum with President Karl Scholz from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 15 in the Crater Lake rooms of the EMU.

The advisory board will submit its recommendations to Scholz in early February. The president will consider all feedback and comments from the campus community before making recommendations to the University of Oregon Board of Trustees, which is expected to set tuition for the 2024-25 school year during its March meeting.

The board met four times during fall term to get background on the university’s finances and other important subjects that influence tuition. The advisory board’s full schedule for winter term can be found on the same site and all meetings are open to the public.
