Duck fans who want a shot at watching the big Civil War game in style just need to roll up their sleeves and, well, take a shot.
For the price of a poke in the arm, anyone who registers to donate blood between now and Nov. 20 will be entered in a drawing for a really stylin’ Civil War tailgate party courtesy of the Lane Blood Center. The deal includes an extra-large tailgate parking spot, complete with food and beverages for the winner and his or her entourage.
Oh, and there’s a pair of tickets to the game, too.
It’s part of the 14th annual Civil War Blood Drive that pits Ducks and Beavers in what amounts to a race to save the most lives. The UO’s side got started with a recent campus visit from the Lane County Bloodmobile, but there’s plenty of time to get on board.
It’s worth noting that while the Ducks won on the football field last year, they fell a few pints short in the blood drive. With 3,613 donors, Oregon State edged out the Ducks’ 3,566 blood brothers and sisters by a mere 47 arms.
The annual event draws Duck and Beaver fans from across the state. Anyone who donates blood can be part of the effort and enter the drawing.
The Lane Blood Center is working to schedule campus bloodmobile visits during Civil War week Nov. 16-20, but people can register to donate any time. Contact the Lane Blood Center at lanebloodcenter.org, by email at lanebloodcenter@laneblood.org or by phone at 541-484-9111.
