The annual international celebration of all things "oom-pah" returns to the UO.

This year’s campus Tuba Day event will feature special guest and Yamaha Performing Artist Jason Gilliam on euphonium. Two musical highlights will include “Beim Schlafengehen” from Richard Strauss' “Four Last Songs,” featuring Joshua Hettwer and Tony Glausi; and the “Adagietto” from Mahler's Symphony No. 5, featuring marimba soloist Leila Hawana.

Both of these pieces will be performed by the UO Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble (Teuph) alongside the featured soloists.

Founded in 1979 and celebrated the world over, Tuba Day brings tuba enthusiasts together for concerts of musical repertoires that spotlight the contribution of the low brass section and recognize the logistics of playing a frequently maligned instrument.
