UO alum elected to Fidelity Charitable board of trustees

University of Oregon alumnus Thomas C. Stewart has been elected to the board of trustees of Fidelity Charitable, an independent public charity that has helped donors support more than 160,000 nonprofit organizations with over $14 billion in grants.

Stewart, of Eugene, is a managing principal at Andrew, Thomas & Company, a corporate advisory and institutional investment firm with expertise in investment management, and corporate and board governance.

Stewart participated in the ROTC program at the UO from 1968-70, and received his bachelor's degree in 1972. He later received his master's degree in business administration from UCLA and studied at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden.

He has created an endowment at the UO's Lundquist College of Business to support each year's Thomas C. Stewart Distinguished Professor.  The professorship rewards faculty whose accomplishments "lead to distinction at a world-class level."

Stewart has also served on the Lundquist executive committee and on the board of trustees of the UO Foundation.

Prior to joining Andrew, Thomas & Company, he was an executive director for fixed income and mergers and acquisitions at Morgan Stanley. He also served as a naval officer during which time he commanded an attack squadron and served as a naval attaché.

Fidelity Charitable, established in 1991, launched the first national donor-advised fund program.
