The UO athletics department was ranked first in the Pac-12 and No. 10 nationally on a list of the most economically efficient departments in the nation.
The list, prepared by the Laboratory for the Study of Intercollegiate Athletics at Texas A&M University, essentially looks at which schools produce the most championships for the least money. It takes into account the number of NCAA and conference championships a school wins, the number of sports it offers and its total athletic department budget.
A score of 1.5432 earned the Ducks the top spot among the “Power 5” conference schools. The UO was the only Pac-12 school ranked in the Top 25.
Texas A&M prepares the list as part of its annual Excellence in Management Cup. The University of Idaho came in first on the list.
