UO gains statewide education system expertise from latest hire

The University of Oregon is gaining expertise in its support of the leadership team with the addition of Charles Triplett, currently the chief of staff and board secretary at the OUS chancellor’s office.

Triplett will begin at the UO in September as assistant vice president for university initiatives and collaborations, reporting to the provost. The position was formerly held by Susan Weeks who retired in June.

The role is responsible for staffing the president’s Executive Leadership Team, coordinating the UO’s participation in interinstitutional Presidents’ and Provosts’ Councils with other public institutions, chairing a campus advisory group on data reporting and managing the migration and reconciliations of policies necessitated by the change in university governance.

Triplett joined the Oregon University System as a planning analyst in 2003 and became the secretary of the State Board of Higher Education in 2011.  In 2013, he also was tapped as the chancellor’s chief of staff.

“I am passionate about public higher education, as evident by my years of service to the Oregon University System, and I look forward to continuing in my new role at the University of Oregon,” Triplett said. “It is an exciting time at the UO and I am excited to get started next month as the academic year begins."
