UO J-school seniors create convincing video for prospective law students

With only a couple of concept meetings and a suggested shot list, University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication seniors Hannah Everman and Adam Holmes set out to find Eugene's coolest hotspots, creating a video portrait to show off the hometown of the UO School of Law.

Everman and Holmes have been multimedia interns with the law school since the beginning of the 2012-13 academic school year. The video, created from a student perspective and geared toward 20-somethings, was developed to try to communicate to prospective students a sense of what makes Eugene a great place to live and learn.

For Holmes, from West Linn, and Everman, from Applegate, the law school internship has augmented the education they are receiving at the J-School.

“In some ways,” says UO Law School Communication Director Erick Hoffman, “It’s a real-world collaboration and learning experience.”

Holmes’s journalism major includes a specific focus on electronic media. “While in high school, I was a member of my school's newspaper, and when I found out that the UO had a great journalism program, I knew that was where I had to earn my undergraduate education,” he says.

When Holmes graduates, he hopes to pursue a career in either news or entertainment television.

Everman is majoring in both journalism and cinema studies, with a minor in creative writing. Everman says she chose the UO because “My older brother and sister were both Ducks and I wanted to follow in their footsteps.”

Everman knew from a young age that she wanted to be involved in the media industry and her hope is to graduate and become an independent filmmaker in Southern Oregon.
