Four UO physicists with roles at the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva will take questions from the audience following the 6:15 p.m. showing Monday, April 21, of Particle Fever at the Bijou Metro, 43 W. Broadway, in Eugene.
The 97-minute movie, described as "mind blowing" by The New York Times, follows the inside story of six of the scientists seeking to unravel the mysteries of the universe, documenting the successes and setbacks in the quest to find the Higgs boson.
Helping answer questions about the mysteries of the Higgs boson and the universe from the UO Department of Physics will be James Brau, Knight Professor of Natural Science; Spencer Chang, assistant professor; Graham Kribs, Alec & Kay Keith Science Faculty Fellow and associate professor; and Stephanie Majewski, assistant professor.
The UO had multiple faculty members, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students who have both worked on the ATLAS experiment team that found the Higgs boson, and on the theoretical predictions and implications of the discovery for particle physics and the universe.
